Joshua had a great Birthday this year. I took him & the kids to Chuck E. Cheese. He loves it there. We kept the celebrating very simple & had I thrown a lavish party, I'm not sure it would have been any more fun. I'm realizing that maybe less is more. I certainly didn't feel stressed out or worried that things would be just right. So nice to just enjoy the day & have fun with the kids!
He got a rubber band riffle (although no ammo) & he LOVED it! After opening his gifts he nearly forgot that he hadn't gotten the lightsaber he'd been asking me to get him for months. He quietly said, "maybe next time I'll get a lightsaber." and then returned to playing.
He never mentioned it again. That night Grandma stopped by briefly because he had one last gift for the birthday boy. Wouldn't you know, it was the lightsaber! Secretly, I knew along she was getting the lightsaber...but for him, it was the best surprise in the world! The perfect ending to a perfect day!
It was a very happy birthday!

Awwww... what a sweetheart! Happy Happy Birthday Joshua!! :) :)
that is so sweet about the lightsaber.... what a cute kid. most kids would have thrown a fit. Glad he got it!
Really cute pictures! There is something to be said for a low key party. I can totally imagine Josh saying that about a lightsaber. He really knows how to innocently pull on your heartstrings. :) Leave it to Grandma to come through! I'm glad he liked the rifle. Totally worth it!
That's such a red ryder bb gun story-you'll shoot your eye out, kid!
I love his smile in the picture with you and Jon, so cute!
Happy Birthday Josh! Glad you had a wonderful day! Boy how time flies! Glad to see things are going good.
